Hotel loyalty points can unlock all kinds of doors when you travel. Now, you can add 50 more all-inclusive luxury resorts to that list. This week, Choice Hotels added 50 luxury, all-inclusive AMResorts properties to its portfolio. Members can redeem and earn hotel points through its Choice Privileges program for a stay.

Travelers may be looking for a way to scale back the cost of their next family vacation or romantic retreat (whenever that may be) given financial pressures from the coronavirus pandemic. Hotel points might be just the way to do that if you cannot afford to buy out an entire property. All-inclusive resorts are favorites of many travelers who like the fact that they need not sign a bill for every drink or meal they order.

Whether you are earning points through credit card spending or have them saved up from previous travel, some future travel planning may not be a bad idea.

“We are seeing World of Hyatt members as some of the first guests to arrive as we bring Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva back online across the Caribbean and Mexico,” says Kevin Froemming, chief commercial officer of Playa Hotels & Resorts. The company notes they are seeing “significant redemptions” from World of Hyatt members at its Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara properties.

Choice Privileges and World of Hyatt are not the only loyalty programs where members can redeem their points in exchange for a free night at an all-inclusive resort. Here are some of the options where you can pay one price (in points) and erase the worry of being “nickeled and dimed” for other expenses throughout their stay.

Choice Privileges

The 50 AMResorts added to Choice Privileges include well-known brands like Secrets Resorts & Spas, Sunscape Resorts & Spas, and Dreams Resorts & Spas. These resorts feature numerous dining options, fully-stocked bars, stunning swimming pools, and access to beautiful stretches of sand. With locations in Mexico’s Riviera Maya and Los Cabos, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Spain among other locations, there are choices for everyone (including adults-only and family-friendly resorts).

This is the first time that these properties will give guests the chance to earn and redeem points for a stay. AMResorts’ addition to Choice Privileges makes the program among the most valuable when it comes to the number of resorts where travelers can earn and redeem points for all-inclusive vacations.

Choice Privileges is offering a promotion for AMResort stays; members that spend more than $500 will receive 50,000 Choice Privileges bonus points (on top of their normal points earning based upon their elite tier). Other benefits of the promotion include a free night for a future stay, a guaranteed room upgrade, and $200 in resort credits.

The promotion is in place for reservations made between now and Sept. 30, 2020 for stays anytime between now and Dec. 22, 2021. This is a great way for advance planners to organize a vacation for any time between now and the end of next year.

All AMResorts are implementing the company’s CleanComplete Verification program to assure strict adherence to local and international Covid-19 safety protocols.

World of Hyatt

Hyatt Ziva (family-friendly) and Hyatt Zilara (adults-only) are two popular World of Hyatt brands. Guests can earn and redeem World of Hyatt points with any eligible stay as well as take advantage of promotions like the current point rebate on award stays and triple points on spending.

Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara resorts are in popular vacation destinations like Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Rose Hall in Jamaica.

Like many other hotel companies, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara properties have stringent Covid-19 safety protocols in place. Ever-popular buffets are still available, but instead of guests serving themselves, staff serve the food so there is no contact with buffet utensils. Guest rooms are left vacant for 24 hours before travelers arrive and after having undergone thorough cleaning.

Other measures include encouraging mask use in public spaces (all staff wear masks) and providing hand sanitizer to guests upon arrival and at stations throughout its resorts. Hyatt has also created the Hygiene and Wellbeing Leader position at each of its worldwide properties. This person is responsible for assuring health and cleaning protocols are followed at every step. This includes even small details like sanitizing elevator buttons, guest room keys, door handles, and light switches.

Hilton Honors

Hilton fans have several resorts where they can redeem points including Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa in Jamaica, Hilton La Romana near Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Hilton Playa del Carmen and Hilton Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. Each of these participates in the Hilton CleanStay program, which has rigorous standards for sanitation.

Hilton Honors is running a bonus points promotion for stays between now and Sept. 7, 2020.

IHG Rewards Club

Holiday Inn Resort Montego Bay in Jamaica and Mexico’s Holiday Inn Resort Ixtapa are among the handful of all-inclusive resorts in the IHG Rewards Club portfolio. The IHG Clean Promise is in full swing at these hotels. Members can earn quadruple points for stays between now and Sept. 8, 2020.
