Parks Notice

 

PARKS DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS UPDATE (4/21/20):

In compliance with the North Carolina State and Buncombe County Stay Home, Stay Safe emergency declarations, all City of Asheville parks will remain closed until further notice including dog parks, playgrounds and outdoor courts.
All greenways and walking trails remain open, including those through parks, while the rest of the park property is closed. Be sure to follow guidelines regarding physical distancing. Please note the parking lot for Hominy Creek Greenway is closed.
All community centers and recreation centers remain closed until further notice, including the WNC Nature Center and Aston Park Tennis Center. All Asheville Parks & Recreation programs are cancelled.
The Asheville Municipal Golf Course reopened on 4/21/20 with additional measures in place to comply with State and County physical distancing requirements.
Riverside Cemetery remains closed other than by appointment for funeral services and visitations with restrictions on the number of people permitted inside the property.
All boat launches located in parks and the Azalea fishing pond are closed.

Open spaces, parks and recreation  provide opportunities for living, learning and leading a full and productive life. Parks and recreation benefit individuals and neighborhoods while having a positive impact on economic growth and environmental preservation. The Asheville Parks & Recreation Department maintains 54 public parks, 6 miles of greenways, 11 community centers, numerous programs for youth, seniors and outdoor enthusiasts, a comprehensive athletics program, and many facilities that provide resources for a range of activities.
