A new season of six-time Emmy nominee Darley Newman’s “Travels With Darley” is launching on Ovation TV’s Journy channel on July 15 with a series of 13 travelogues shot in 4K in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States.
Previous seasons of Newman’s travel show have aired on PBS, Amazon Prime and other networks since 2016, but this rollout of new episodes comes at a particularly welcome time. We can’t travel right now, but we can come along for the ride as Newman goes skiing at Tahoe with Jonny Moseley, samples oysters in Morro Bay, swims with sharks in Dubai and samples crepes and galettes in Brittany.
The first episode explores California’s Central Coast with a road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway and stops at Hearst Castle, Solvang and Pismo Beach. (And yes, dune buggies are definitely involved.)
Other episodes with major California appeal include a Tahoe-themed episode 6, complete with ski fun and Elvis lore, and the Los Angeles-centric episode 10, which checks out West Hollywood, Pasadena and the Angeles National Forest.
Further afield, Newman whisks viewers off to the castle-dotted landscapes of the Rhine River, samples kimchi and K-pop in South Korea and heads out on a desert safari, as well as that whole shark thing, in Dubai.
Journy, the free travel channel/app, is available on iOS, Android, Roku, Xumo, Vewd, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. Find more details on Newman and catch a sneak peek at “Travels with Darley” at darleycnewman.com.
